Review sparks concern
Queen’s community members voiced concerns with the University’s Athletics Review at Oct.18’s Senate meeting. Julia Mitchell, AMS vice-president (University Affairs) and an instructor in Queen’s Athletics VIP Fitness programs offered by Queen’s Athletics, said she was upset by an increase in the fees students pay for instructional programs. The report recommended a study looking at charging fees for instructional programs.

Athletes of the Week
Rookie Joren Zeeman made quite a statement in his first two games with the Queen’s men’s volleyball team. The 6’6” right side hitter leads the OUA in kills per game. He had 19 kills and no errors on 31 attempts in the Gaels’ five-set win against Laurier on Friday night. Saturday night, he had 16 kills and two errors on 25 attempts in another five-set victory, over Waterloo University.

Fencing starts strong
The Gaels’ fencing team hosted the Queen’s Invitational last weekend at Duncan McArthur Gym on West Campus and picked up two medals in the process. Dimitry Balashov won gold in the men’s épée and Christian Petrozza earned a bronze in the men’s foil. The team also gave strong performances on the women’s side, with Joanne Ko placing seventh in foil, Laura Bartha placing seventh in épée and Stacey McDonald finishing 10th in women’s sabre.
