Making room for the ESS
Next year, education students will be faced with a new governing body after students in the faculty of education voted to leave the AMS and join the SGPS last Thursday night. “Most of the ESS members that I talked to seemed to indicate that it was just a better alignment of interests,” SGPS President Jeff Welsh said.

AMS website hacked
Students looking to access the AMS website over the weekend were confronted with a page load error, the product of the website’s server being taken offline after being hacked. Vice-President (Operations) Ken Wang said the entire website was taken down and replaced with “this website was hacked by LinuXploit_crew.”

The class of Comm ’09 is establishing a scholarship fund in memory of student Baha Bekenov, Comm ’09, who died suddenly of a pre-existing medical condition in Goodes Hall on Nov. 11, 2008. The class is working to raise funds for its “Comm ’09 Scholarship in memory of Baha Bekenov” as its graduating gift.

Marching for Israel
Last Thursday, about 50 people gathered to march through the streets of Kingston to show support for Israel in light of the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The current conflict began on Dec. 27, 2008 after a six-month truce between Israel and Hamas.
