Festival has something for everyone

Why you should go: The Wolfe Island Grill is the ideal place to start the weekend. The Grill is a local hangout and a truly charming venue. The lineup features some very chilled out folk bands and will feature Kingston’s own The Gertrudes.

Artists in motion

Since its inception, the Union Gallery has struck a harmonious balance between showcasing student and professional works in a tiny space in Stauffer Library. Conflux, which runs now until Aug. 7, is a massive collaboration between 10 different artists.

Summer blockbuster hits and misses

With raging hormones, mind-altering substance abuse and stolen kisses, Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince makes a huge effort to appeal to the ever-aging Potter demographic. Harry returns to Hogwarts after spending a summer skulking around in the London Underground picking up girls in tube stop cafés, which serves as a fitting distraction for him—Potter’s new title of “The Chosen One” is met with some reluctance and confusion.

A&E summer picks

Bitte Orca The Dirty Projectors’ collaboration with David Byrne on the indie super mix Dark Was The Night was one of the stand out tracks on that record. Now, hot off the success of that album, The Dirty Projectors have released their first full-length album since 2007.
