Football demolishes Lions to go 4-0

Despite Homecoming’s cancellation, the event’s usual suspects were in attendance at Richardson Stadium for the Queen’s Gaels’ 67-0 romp over the woeful York Lions on Saturday. Purple-dyed engineering students still rushed the field during half-time and alumni were still part of the 6,221-strong crowd.

Gaels avenge last year’s final with Mac shellacking

The last time the rugby team played McMaster, it was a cold, wet day on the outskirts of Markham, Ont. and an OUA banner was on the line. Queen’s lost that game, and the ghosts of the past hadn’t left them when they hosted the Marauders at Kingston Field on Saturday afternoon.

Basketball teams pull out wins against King’s College

The men’s basketball team stampeded to a 90-33 victory over Edmonton’s King’s University College Eagles on Saturday night in Bartlett Gym. The Eagles visited Queen’s on their Kingston tour during which they also played the Royal Military College Paladins and the St. Lawrence College Vikings.

Women’s rugby endure first loss of the season

The women’s rugby team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, dropping a 39-6 decision against the McMaster Marauders at Kingston Field. The loss bumped the Gaels down to second place in the Russell Division, with a record of 2-1.

Sports in brief

After a 1-0 win against the Royal Military College Paladins on Saturday and a 3-1 win over the Trent Excalibur at Richardson Stadium on Sunday, the men’s soccer team sits tied for first spot in the OUA East with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
