Team LWT has been elected as next year’s AMS executive

AMS

At roughly 11:20 p.m. AMS officials announced that Team LWT has been elected as the new AMS executive for the 2016-17 school year. Team LWT consists of Tyler Lively (president), David Walker (vice president (operations)) and Carolyn Thompson (vice president (university affairs)).

“I’m speechless. I don’t know — I honestly don’t know how I feel,” Thompson said after the announcement was made.

Rector

Minutes before 11 p.m. AMS officials announced Cam Yung, ArtSci ’16, Queen’s 35th Rector.

“I couldn’t have done this without the team – my friends, my family – the support was absolutely amazing,” Yung said after the announcement.

“Everyone ran a fantastic campaign and worked hard … I loved every moment and I’m so excited to work for Queen’s”.

 

ASUS

Darrean Baga and Brian MacKay, both ArtSci ’17, have been elected as the new president and vice-president of ASUS. The team ran uncontested. Voter turnout was 31.5 per cent and 89.4 per cent of voters voted for the team. 10.6 per cent, meanwhile, voted no.

COMPSA

Aniqah Mair has been elected as next year’s COMPSA president, while Vinith Suriyakumar has been elected as vice president operations.

Taylor Sawadsky was elected for president, Tyler Bennett was elected as vice president operations and Evan Dressel has been elected as vice president student affairs.

ResSoc

At 9:14 p.m. the Residence Society’s CRO told The Journal that Team CMV — Varman Jeyaseelan, Vice President (Judicial Affairs); Chance Spencer, President; and Michelle Chu, Vice President (Residence Affairs) — have won this year’s executive election. Here are the official numbers:

CMV – 665 votes (59.2%)

TMK – 458 votes (40.8%)

 

Concurrent Education Students Association (CESA)

Team GPS — Jacob Gardhouse for President, Sherri Patterson for Vice President (External) and Carma Steenkamp, Vice President (Internal) — won the CESA executive election. CESA has not released any numbers related to the election results. 

 

Commerce Society (ComSoc)

Team PVT won the ComSoc executive election with 54.7 per cent of the vote. Voter turnout was 37 per cent, an increase from 23 per cent last year.

Team PVT is made up of Bhavik Vyas for President, René Puerta for Vice President (Operations) and Sarah Tyler for Vice President (Student Affairs).
