Letters to the Editors

Congrats Queen’s Housing

Dear Editors,

We’re writing to congratulate Queen’s Housing & Hospitality Services on their transparency and inclusiveness in the recent Food Services Review.

As student members of the committee, we have been full participants in the review process for the past two and a half years, with an equal say in all decisions made during the review.

We worked hard to find the best proposal for Queen’s. The decision to award the Food Services contract to Sodexo was based on a great deal of work and discussion.

Over the past two and a half years we along with other committee members, have visited other campuses, interviewed the management teams of the four bidders, read and discussed each of their proposals and learned a great deal about the food services industry.

It was a lot of work, but we’re glad we took the time to get involved.

Along with our participation, students, staff and faculty have had many opportunities to contribute to the process through focus groups, surveys and interviews.

It’s great to see a University department willing to take the time and effort to involve so many members of campus in this important decision.

We’re proud of our participation and look forward to seeing the review’s results on campus.
