Women’s volleyball wins back-to-back

The women’s volleyball team had a triumphant road trip to Thunder Bay, winning back-to-back straight-set games over the Lakehead Thunderwolves this weekend.

The wins propel the Gaels to 10-5, good for a second-place tie with the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the OUA. Meanwhile, the Thunderwolves remain in last place with an 0-13 record.

Saturday’s game was closer than the straight–set decision suggests, with the Thunderwolves narrowly losing 25-23, 25-20, 25-22. Outside hitter Kelsey Bishop led the women with 14 kills, while setter Anna Pedjase recorded 40 assists.

On Sunday, outside hitter Natalie Gray led with 13 kills as the Gaels prevailed 25-21, 25-16, 25-17. Outside hitter Katie Hagarty followed up Saturday’s 14-kill performance with 11 kills on Sunday.

On Friday, the Gaels will host the 10-4 Ottawa Gee-Gees, to determine sole possession of second place.
