Kasa-vubu's versatility is a major asset for the women's rugby team.

When committing to Queen’s, Geneviève Kasa-vubu admitted that the university’s lack of diversity made her hesitate.

“I kind of just took it as a challenge,” she said. “Sometimes it [the lack of diversity] does bother you, but I’m too busy to feed myself into that.”

This article has been modified to clarify that Kasa-vubu is the only black female varsity athlete on a varsity team. Varsity teams do not include varsity clubs, though members of both are considered varsity athletes.
