The fire department was called to a fire outside Douglas Library on Friday morning.

The University told The Journal the fire occurred with “a homemade e-bike, being driven in the area by someone with no connection to Queen’s.”

The e-bike caught fire on campus near the intersection of University Ave. and Union St., and the rider disembarked.

Kingston Fire and Campus Security and Emergency Services both responded to the scene.

“The fire was extinguished and the owner indicated he did not want what remained, so it was disposed of by Physical Plant Services staff,” the University wrote, noting that the rider didn’t have insurance on the vehicle.
