Women’s representation in the media is much like a boxing ring. Imagine Taylor Swift in one corner and Katy Perry in the other. The media is both the referee and commentator, egging them on.

“It made me feel so glad that I live in Canada.”Rachel Heleniak, ArtSci ’19 “I liked Hillary a lot more after watching it.”Sam Boynton, ConEd ’17 “Trump isn’t that great at bashing Hillary when she’s next to him.”Derek Sanders, ArtSci ’17

Students aren’t learning enough about Indigenous studies, but neither are their teachers.

Whether you watched it from your couch, or live right here in Kingston, Canadians everywhere will fondly remember The Tragically Hip’s emotional farewell.

Recently The Queen’s Journal shed some light on the reality of how graduate students’ funding packages can be drastically changed from their original agreement.

However, certain aspects about this reality warrant more attention — especially regarding how graduate student poverty and professional development experiences are tied to these cuts.

Alumni parade is more than a lap around a track I can remember my first Homecoming like it was yesterday.October 2007. Crammed into the student side at Richardson Stadium. My tam? Firmly pulled down over my ears.

“I’m liking this.”Greg Eriksen, ArtSci ’20 “Pretty sweet.”Jamie Robertson, Sci ’20 “It’s been fun. I made a lot of friends!”Elim Chen, Nursing ’20

How often do you sit in class and hear something that sparks your curiosity, but you’re afraid to ask about it in fear that your question may be considered off topic or besides the point?

Re: TAPS services to be locked for HoCo                                        Dear Editors,I was not surprised to hear allegations of hazing coming towards the TAPS management. Many of the steps taken by the AMS Board of Directors in this matter are reasonable. Cancelling socials and requiring Human Resources oversight during hiring are clear and natural consequences of the alleged actions. I would hope that all training weeks should be “dry” as no person should be under the influence of alcohol while at work.

When you were in high school what did you want to be when you grew up?

There’s a common stereotype that carries an underlying horrible truth with many university students.

Re: Not all zoos are birds of a feather

Hook-up culture is getting us nowhere but into a mess of tangled sheets and unreturned text messages.

The University is probably watching you.

Big changes are happening for the character of Iron Man in the Marvel comics, written by Brian Michael Bendis. Earlier this month Marvel Comics announced a new development in their Invincible Iron Man series. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, will be replaced by Riri Williams, a 15-year-old black girl, who attends M.I.T. So far only a few details about the change have been released, but it’s been met with controversy, as some readers believe this to be more of a PR stunt than a progression in the comic.

Can you sum up your thoughts on the Stanford sexual assault trial in one word?

I’d always known that coming to Queen’s warranted more responsibility. Things like waking up in the morning without the help of my mother or making healthy eating choices, I expected. But coming from a country and a neighborhood where sexual assaults are a rare occurrence, I didn’t realize that walking with my keys gripped tightly in my fist late at night “just in case” would be one of them.

“DC vs. Marvel. DC is a hundred times better.”  Akhil Dua, ConEd ’16 “Rural Ontario. Small towns. It was a dark day.”  Brent Fallis, Sci ’17 “Western pride.”Cindy Soerensen, GDB ’16

Initially, I was pretty reluctant to write this article.
