Women’s Volleyball hosts at the ARC

Queen’s Women’s Volleyball hosted McGill, Nipissing, and Toronto-Metropolitan University this weekend at the ARC for the Queen’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

The Queen’s Men’s Volleyball team lost in straight sets to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA playoff semi-finals Wednesday night.

After a shaky start, the Queen’s Men’s Volleyball team rallied to beat the Nipissing Lakers 3-1 in the second round of the OUA Playoffs on Saturday. 

After nearly two years without competitive play, the Men’s and Women’s volleyball teams are making their return to the court.

Arielle Palermo, ArtSci ’23, and Hannah Duchesneau, ArtSci ’24, two outside hitters from Queen’s women’s volleyball, have been selected for the Women’s NextGen Program with Volleyball Canada.

Two outside hitters from Queen’s men’s volleyball, Erik Siksna and Zac Hutcheson, have been training with the nation’s up-and-coming stars at Volleyball Canada’s National Excellence Program (NEP) in Gatineau, QC since the start of September. 

Erik Siksna has been playing volleyball since he was six years old, but it only took one year for the outside hitter to establish himself as a star at Queen’s.

The men’s volleyball team has done it again, coming back from being down two sets to none to win the OUA Championship over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

In front of the largest home crowd of the season, the nationally-ranked No. 6 Queen’s men’s volleyball team took to the ARC for their quarterfinal match against the No. 10 Windsor Lancers on Saturday, Feb. 29.
