“I don’t have any exams.” Addy Egan, ArtSci ’19 “Not even a little bit.” Julia Baldaro, Comm ’19 “No, absolutely not.” Olivia Kulbak, Kin ’20

At a conference organized by Rebel Media on Nov. 10, John Carpay, a Canadian lawyer and member of Alberta’s United Conservative Party, referred to pride flags and those bearing Nazi and communist symbols in the same sentence.

“I don’t know anything about him or where he comes from, but I love change! Jacob Ritchie, CompSci ‘21“I would appreciate a more diverse candidate considering we’re swithcing to another white male.” Zaina Baig, ArtSci ‘19“I don’t even know how they change principals. As former student leaders who worked with incoming Principal Patrick Deane during his time as Vice-Principal (Academic), we can say with full confidence that his appointment represents an opportunity for Queen’s to rediscover and nurture its unique undergraduate learning experience.

Denouncing anti-Semitism must go beyond a hashtag to make real change.

“A train.” Celine Hardy, ArtSci ’19“A stereotypical bro.” Jeremy Rockley, MA ’20“I’m not dressing up, I’m working.” Keara Sutherland, ArtSci ’19″Lara Croft.” Hannah Heino, ArtSci ’21

The Ontario Government’s silence on the status of free tuition fuels unease and stifles the potential of students in Ontario.

Queen’s prides itself on legacy.

“Going home to Toronto and seeing family.” Zach Freedman, CompSci ‘20 “Meeting my family in Toronto.” Georgia Lafrance, Sci ‘21 “Going home to Nova Scotia.” Julie Mosher, Sci ‘21 “My mom is coming from Vancouver to spend it with me.” Eva Tychsen, ArtSci ‘21

The Cannabis Act has incredible potential to drive both economic and societal progress in Canada. However, the federal government’s current marijuana regulation only benefits privileged members in our society.

“Wake up at 8 a.m. and start drinking.” Ben Tomkinson, ArtSci ’22″I’m on the cheer team so I’ll be at the football game.” Matt Frost, ArtSci ’19″I have friends from home coming up, so I’ll be having lots of fun.” Laura Wilson, ArtSci ’21

A shift in a drug’s regulation must be done right. The legalization of marijuana will only be successful if the agencies are fully able to handle the increased responsibility that comes with it.

Legalizing cannabis in Canada is a landmark liberalization that highlights a reformed approach to substance use—one based on principles of prevention, harm reduction and enforcement.

It’s time to stop dismissing basic income as a fantasy and act to seriously test its merits.

“I feel neutral about it, as long as they actually enforce the restrictions.” Joelle Jacobs, ConEd’20″Will probably keep a lot of people out of trouble.” Tamir Arnester, CompSci’21″Most students smoke anyways so why not.” Marcus Chan, CompSci’19

The Canadian Mental Health Association labels men’s mental health as a “sleeper issue,” which—until recently—has rarely been taken seriously.

Granovsky’s writing is thoughtful and well-written but I think that his criticism of our current society’s attempt to turn boys into men misses the mark. It’s true that we do not need more gentlemen, but I think that instead our focus should be on raising good people.  Most would agree that in our current social climate men and boys are being fed toxic ideas about what it means to be a man, both in relation to women and other men (not to mention non-human animals and our environment).

“I really like stuffing, turkey’s good too.” Annie Macgregor, Nursing ’20 “Sometimes my family makes sweet potatoes with cinnamon and marshmallows,  its amazing.” Rebecca Hoogkamp, CompSci ‘21 “Sweet potatoes with marshmallows.” Riley Doyle, ArtSci ’21 “Honestly I don’t like Thanksgiving food so my mom makes roast beef.” Jodie Grieve, ArtSci ’21

To conservatives who identify as targets on this campus,
