AMS Assembly’s third meeting of the term, which takes place tonight in McLaughlin Hall at 7 p.m., is set to review the non-academic discipline process and AMS budgets.
Principal Daniel Woolf invited as guest speaker to discuss non-academic misconduct
The Board of Trustees recently implemented an interim protocol to replace the student non-academic misconduct system while an advisory committee conducts a review of the system as a whole.
Tonight at AMS Assembly, Principal Woolf — the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Non-Academic Misconduct — will be making a presentation to the Assembly regarding the review.
The advisory committee, overseen by Daniel Woolf, includes members of the University Senate, the AMS, the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (SGPS), University Council and the university administration.
AMS President Kanivanan Chinniah indicated in his report to Assembly that Assembly members will be encouraged to express their thoughts on the review.
Budgeting approval
The Assembly will review and vote on whether to approve the budgets of five AMS commissions — the Commission of Internal Affairs, Municipal Affairs Commission, the Campus Activities Commission, the Commission of the Environment and Sustainability and the Social Issues Commission.
According to the agenda, a consolidated version of this review will be looked at and approved at the Board’s Corporate Special General Meeting. That meeting will take place on Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the New Medical Building, room 132A.
Referendum
Proposed changes or additions to the fall referendum will be discussed and voted upon by members, including the addition of student fees (some subject to opt-out) for Queen’s clubs and services.
Five fees to be included in the fall referendum will be voted on for approval by Assembly tonight:
– Establishment of a $0.30 fee (subject to individual opt-out) to support MEDLIFE Queen’s initiatives
– Establishment of a $0.02 fee (subject to individual opt-out) to support the Queen’s Longboard Club
– Establishment of a $0.15 fee (subject to individual opt-out) to support Undergraduate Ontario Science Case Competition Queen’s
– Establishment of a $0.25 fee (subject to individual opt-out) to support the Queen’s Bridge Building Team
– Establishment of a $3.00 fee (subject to individual opt-out) to support the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) Kingston at Queen’s University
Clubs Manager ratification
Jennifer Williams, ArtSci ’16, is up for ratification as the new Clubs Manager. If ratified, she will replace previous Clubs Manager Benjamin Bourne, who left the AMS in August.
