Amongst the giggling at AMS Assembly, future leaders of student government were elected on Thursday at an AMS Special Assembly.
Following an unprecedented de-slated election, Owen Rocchi, Comp ’24 will be the next president, Ayan Chowdhury, ArtSci ’24 will be the next vice-president (operations) and Ruth Osunde, ArtSci ’25, will be the vice-president (university affairs) for the AMS during the 2024-25 school year.
The results of the vote were announced by AMS Secretariat Alysha Ahmad on Feb. 29 at 11:25 p.m. in Robert Sutherland Hall.
Rocchi received 22 votes, while presidential opponents Jason Kim, Comm ’24, and Nicolas David Brasset Duque, ArtSci ’24, received four and zero votes. Chowdhury clinched the VPO postion, earning 18 votes and opponent Tyler Tâm Trần, Comm ’25, getting eight votes. Osunde garnered all but one vote for the VPUA position, with Katarina Bojic, ArtSci ’25, earning one vote.
