Often associated with dinners, galas and other pomp activities, wine is typically left on the rack during Friday afternoon LCBO visits.
Brendon has been working in a restaurant since high school and developed an affinity for fine grapes shortly after completing his SmartServe.

Lines of clothing headed by Queen’s students pursuing careers in fashion design alongside their degrees seem to be rising in numbers.
A perfect example is Ohneka, a fashion line started by Madison Tyrell and her mother.
Tyrell, BFA ’17, has always loved the potential in altering second-hand clothing and, alongside her mom, has turned her hobby of altering thrift store finds into a line of denim wear that has quickly expanded.

Out of all the forces in the world, water is the most coveted and awe-inspiring of them all.

Do you believe in ghosts?
Today is Halloween — the annual peak of everything ghostly and paranormal is in full swing.
I suppose I see myself as someone who wants to believe in the supernatural. It’s certainly fun to suspend my doubts and believe the classic stories of spirits, especially around Halloween.

This week’s performance in the Kingston municipal election was, in a word, abysmal.
This trend of low voter turnout is hardly related to whom we elect to City Hall. Canada’s voter turnout federally went from a healthy 75 per cent in the 1960s to an underwhelming 60 per cent at the last federal election — and the decline, by all indicators, will continue to grow.

Disordered eating and other concerns associated with a negative body image have become more widely understood as serious and pervasive, but it can still be hard to find support from sympathetic voices on campus.
Dani Keren, a fourth-year life sciences student, is seeking to change that reality. She’s the founder of AuthenticallyU, a group on campus that seeks to improve eating disorder awareness and body image positivity on campus.

Last week wasn’t any ordinary week — it was Sexual Assault Awareness Week.
From Oct. 20-26, Sexy Queen’s U held a number of events on campus to raise awareness of sexual assault, including a resource fair in the Queen’s Centre, a mock sexual assault trial and one particularly important event: Project Unbreakable.

For 13 years, quarterback Peyton Manning was the face of the Indianapolis Colts, winning four MVP awards and a Super Bowl in 2006.
But following a neck injury and a series of surgeries that forced Manning out of the entire 2011 season, the Colts made the tough decision to release him, feeling that they had to move on past an aging, potentially injured quarterback. Manning signed with the Denver Broncos, amid much questioning if he’d return to form.

DIY Halloween costumes are a great way to create an original costume while having fun making it in the process. There are a lot of creative ways to take what you already have in your wardrobe and use it to transform yourself for the night.
A great costume doesn’t have to cost you much if you make the right tweaks to what you already own and add the right accessories. Dressing up is fun, but can also be expensive and time-consuming.

Each year in the winter, between two and six per cent of Canadians find themselves feeling SAD.
Terms like the “winter blues” or the “February blahs” — or, in the case of students, “winter exam stress” — may be used to describe these feelings. But for Canadians, the correct term is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
When SAD was first described in the 1980s, it was met with some skepticism, and acceptance of the disorder took some time. Now, scientists have used brain scans to determine a potential cause.

Kingston’s first Limestone City Juggling Festival since 2000 proved to be an unusual event that drew in spirited audiences and performers alike.

Ottawa-based band Those Gulls will once again bring their punk-rock sound to Kingston, this time to perform new music from their album Forevermore.

When a play causes feelings of tension and unpredictability in the audience about its unfolding, it’s clear the actors have done their job right.

If food is meant to bring people together, I can think of nothing better than muffins to do the trick. The sound of the cooking timer has never failed to propel me into the kitchen and has often led to negotiations in my family about who gets to “clean up” the remaining chocolaty batter from the bowl.
It’s the unique crunchiness of millet muffins, however, that makes them stand out to me. A gluten-free grain, millet has high protein content and contains many nutrients, such as magnesium, calcium and fiber.

I’ll confess: I enjoy being alone. I like to recharge in my room — my sanctuary, my haven — and snuggle right into that cotton cocoon I call my bed with a book or two. Despite this feature that goes to the very core of who I am, I’m typically described as outgoing and sociable.
I still remember in grade school, at those meet-the-teacher events, my parents would receive praise for my “bubbly” character.
