Sometimes American politics is downright laughable. The “fiscal cliff” debate was the latest in a series of manufactured crises which serve as the landmarks for this unfolding comedy. This most recent fiasco was preceded by last summer’s debt ceiling debate, and it will be followed by yet another debt ceiling debate as the issue of spending cuts was left off the table in the “fiscal cliff” resolution.

It pretty much all started when I moved into my house in second-year and gained access to a kitchen; no meal plan meant I had to fend for myself. University students notoriously eat poorly, so I made a point to try and put some effort into cooking to try and make something that wasn’t complete shit. I looked up some recipes and tried to copy them as best as possible, but it wasn’t anything special.

Product dupes: a university student’s best friend. In case you’re unfamiliar with the term, product dupes, or duplicates, are products that provide the same function as high-end brands but at a fraction of the cost. I scoured makeup blogs, product review websites and my friends’ makeup bags to find the best product dupes to help you get the look on a budget.

I’m not going to lie-when it comes to reading for pleasure, I have a habit of turning to Harry Potter when the opportunity presents itself. I’ve always felt either guilty or stressed when I choose to read a novel over my textbook readings, and re-reading childhood favourites requires little time commitment or concentration. One of my New Years’ resolutions is to read more; unsure where to start, I asked fellow students, friends and family for their favourite literary picks, both from their youth and beyond and here is what people recommended.

We here at the SHRC are big fans of lubricant, aka lube. Lube reduces friction, making penetration and genital stimulation smoother and less painful (if applicable). Lube can also reduce the likelihood of transmitting STIs for two reasons: if you’re using a condom, it’s less likely to break; and with or without a condom, lube reduces the likelihood that the genitals will be injured (and open wounds make it a lot more likely to transmit STIs).

When you’re on the comedy circuit, you must be wary of bikers with knives.

Watching the audience can sometimes be just as satisfying as watching the stage.
