Six Queen’s football players were recognized by the 2021 U SPORTS East-West Bowl roster earlier this month.

When today’s students zip through Mackintosh-Corry Hall between lectures for a reprieve from the winter wind, few, if any, are aware they’re standing on hallowed ground.

The CFL season cancellation puts many players, especially those with a family to provide for, in a tough situation. A year without football means a year without guaranteed income, forcing many to explore different employment opportunities.  

Just over a week ago, all of Cameron Lawson’s hard work paid off.

Gaels defensive lineman Cameron Lawson, one of the most dominant pass rushers in U SPORTS this season, was an invitee to this year’s Canadian Football League (CFL) National Combine.

Sitting with a record of 2-4, the Gaels are admirers when looking at the playoff picture.

The Gaels travelled to Waterloo to challenge the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on a dreary Saturday afternoon.

The Gaels travelled to Toronto on Sept. 21 to take on the number 10 nationally-ranked Toronto Varsity Blues.

The Ben Arhen who arrived at football training camp in 2016 isn’t very different from the Ben Arhen you see today, making highlight catches at every stadium across the province. He’s got the same speed, the same vibrant personality, and the same drive.
