Kingston city councillor Peter Stroud had charges against him for causing disturbance and obstructing property under $5,000 dropped as of Thursday.
Stroud was charged on June 23 after an incident with Kingston Transit. Kingston Police say that he chased after a Kingston Transit bus on his bicycle with his child and, once catching up to the vehicle, stood in front of it and began to yell and take photographs of the driver.
The charges against him were dropped after his completion of a diversion program, which included a written letter of apology from Stroud.
In a statement posted on Twitter in June, Stroud said he didn’t intend to upset anyone.
“I sincerely apologize to anyone who was upset by my actions. My intention was to gain access for my eldest child, who was refused service while arrived to an express bus stop before the scheduled departure.”
Neither Stroud nor his lawyer were present Thursday to hear the crown attorney withdraw the charges against him.
