The Queen’s African and Caribbean Students Association (ACSA) is one of a variety of ethnic and culturally based clubs on campus. The club focuses on issues pertaining to students of African or Caribbean descent at Queen’s. They also engage in discussion related to Africa and the Caribbean basin.
Another focal point of the ACSA is raising awareness of challenges the African and Caribbean community face. The ACSA host numerous events throughout the year in order to raise awareness of their organization and the issues and ideals they represent.
Membership is open to all students who are interested in learning about African and Caribbean culture.
Events include potluck dinners, parties and an organized soccer tournament. President Marc Whittaker said the purpose of these activities is to not only raise awareness, but to provide a comfortable environment for African and Caribbean students who are far from home and to “bring together people of the same background.”
Students interested in joining ACSA are encouraged to visit the club website for more information on the club and how to become a member.
Their formal constitution, which outlines the goals and terms of membership for the club can also be found on the website.
