Group costume
Stages of Britney Spears’ career (optional “Comeback Britney” not pictured.)
The ever-popular group costume works with old friends, housemates and classmates alike. Britney’s ups and downs are easy to recreate with a quick trip to Value Village, Phase 2 or any other second hand store for wigs, sunglasses, babies and other Brit-themed accessories. The actual costumes were created out of clothing the models already owned. (Don’t ask about the leather suit.)
The ultimate slacker costume
God’s gift to women (or men)
Friends invite you out to a Halloween party at the last minute? Too lazy to do anything about a costume until the day of Halloween? Never fear; your costume is only a Sharpie and a large piece of paper away. Make it your own with a P.S. from the Big Guy, such as “Good Luck!” or “Ha ha.” The most economical costume on this page, it cost 50 cents and literally took five seconds to make.
Couple’s costume
Lumberjack and tree
Sick of the cutesy couples costumes frolicking lovingly about, but want to do something with your sweetheart or just one friend? Chop down tradition with this sexy lumberjack get up—amazing moustache $1 at Dollarama—and (solid) tree ensemble!
Topical costume
Sarah Palin
Warning: there are going to be a lot of these out there this year—stand out with the perfect Palinator glasses (these ones were purchased at Shopper’s Drugmart), and an accessory such as an upside-down newspaper, pageant sash or toy rifle. Perfect your Alaskan drawl, find somewhere in Kingston that sells moose burgers and chow down.
