Flags on campus were lowered on May 20, according to the Gazette, following the passing of Adjunct Assistant Professor Stanley Corbett (BA ’66, MA’ 72, PhD ’82, Law ’95), Associate Dean (Academic) for the Faculty of Law on May 18.
For over five decades, Dr. Corbett dedicated himself to Queen’s University. Beginning as a student of mathematics, Corbett then completed his post-graduate degrees in philosophy.
After a brief hiatus to Acadia University, he returned to Queen’s and embarked on an additional degree in law.
After working as an adjunct professor in philosophy and law, Corbett became a full-time member of the Queen’s Faculty of Law in 1997.
Dr. Corbett was the faculty’s longest serving Associate Dean (Academic). He took the position in 2008.
For his impact on the students he taught, Dr. Corbett was honoured on three separate occasions with the Law Students’ Society Teaching Award. A celebration of Dr. Corbett’s life will be held during the summer.
