Golf finishes sixth at OUA Championships

Last week at the OUA Championships in St. Catharines, Queen’s golf team conclude their season with their worst showing of the year. They finished sixth out of 12 teams.

Usually a two-day event, rain forced organizers to cut the tournament down to one.

Patrick Forbes, Sean Dainty, Mike Hozzack, Rich Coldman and Chris Abbopp all competed for Queen’s.

“We’re not pleased, since this is our worst finish of the year, so we could obviously have done a lot better,” Patrick Forbes said. Forbes shot a 75 to lead the Gaels.

Rich Coldman, who shot 80 on the day, echoed Forbes remarks.

Despite the disappointing result in St. Catharines, the overall season for the Gaels was a strong one.

Forbes, Coldman and Hozzack all scored in the top 10 of the 80 players in the league and were all named OUA second-team all-stars.

All five players will be returning to the team next year.
