Every time the Gaels hit the court, field, or ice, you’re guaranteed an exciting experience, whether through triumph or adversity. These upcoming must-see matchups come with high ticket demand and even higher stakes.
Queen’s Basketball hosts uOttawa and Carleton
In the final two games of the 2024-25 regular season, the Gaels will be tipping off against divisional rivals and the second and third-placed teams in the division.
For the past few years, the Carleton Ravens and uOttawa Gee-Gees have given the Gaels serious trouble, establishing themselves as legitimate obstacles in the OUA’s East division.
Should the Gaels wish to secure home-court advantage come playoffs, the Gaels must come out on top during these back-to-back games against their divisional foes.
The Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will welcome the Carleton Ravens on Feb. 14 and shortly after the uOttawa Gee-Gees on Feb. 15 at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
Carr-Harris Challenge Cup
The Carr-Harris Challenge Cup is an annual game where the Queen’s Men’s Hockey team faces off against the Royal Military College Paladins in a continuation of the most historic rivalry in hockey.
Since 1886, the Gaels and Paladins have been locked in a tense rivalry—every time these two drop the puck, a physical, high-scoring game is sure to break out.
The 37th annual Carr-Harris Challenge Cup is scheduled for Feb. 6 at Slush Puppie Place. Winning the past 19 matchups, the Gaels extended their dominance over the Paladins, with last year’s Carr-Harris Challenge Cup concluding in a 6-3 victory before a packed crowd of both Paladins and Gaels supporters.
Tickets are yet to be released but jump on them as soon as possible once they are. The Paladin-Gael rivalry is a historic event that you will want to be a part of.
Queen’s Volleyball welcomes Western
In both the Men’s and Women’s OUA volleyball divisions, the Mustangs are closely trailing our Queen’s Gaels on the standings.
Home-court advantage is crucial come playoff time. The roar of the fans, especially in the ARC, is crucial for limiting the opposition’s momentum and helping to motivate our Queen’s athletes.
On Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams will welcome the Mustangs to the ARC.
As it stands, the Gaels are currently locked in a battle with their purple rivals for first in the division and should they best the Mustangs at the end of the season, the Gaels will have secured home-court advantage and will place themselves in a great position to make a deep playoff run.
Artistic Swimming Eastern Divisional Championships
These Gaels are swimming to the end of their season by hosting the Canadian University Artistic Swimming League’s Eastern Divisional Championship at the ARC from Feb. 8 to 9.
The Queen’s Artistic Swimming Club travels to different meets throughout the year, most recently travelling to the McGill invitational on Nov. 18, where the experienced and novice teams finished third overall, and both novice and experienced duets finished on the podium as well.
