The Graduate Trustee sits on the Board of Trustees to represent SGPS students’ interests. The position is unpaid, and Ogawa will serve a two-year term, attending four board meetings each year.

“As Graduate Student Trustee, I hope to participate in open communication with my peers to act as an accurate representative to student perspectives and concerns,” Ogawa said in a statement to The Journal.

The results showed 95 per cent of SGPS members voted for Ogawa for the 2023-25 term. She expressed her excitement and wants students to know she is available to them.

“Thank you so much to everyone that voted. I feel very fortunate to be able to take on this unique opportunity,” Ogawa said.
