A Facebook page called Kings of Queen’s, which featured posts targeting Queen’s students and spreading anti-women messages, was run by a Queen’s employee, The Journal has learned.
Earlier this month, Kings of Queen’s posted a screenshot of a Facebook page in which the administrator’s personal profile and browser tabs were visible. The profile—including a photo of the employee and their full name—matches a LinkedIn profile where their employment at Queen’s is specified. The individual can also be found in the Queen’s staff directory.
The page contained dozens of posts and images, including of Queen’s students, with commentary that ranged from calling feminism a mental illness and a hate group to claiming campus sexual violence statistics are falsified.
When contacted by The Journal on Wednesday, the employee denied knowledge of the page. Within a two-hour period, it was deactivated. It had been live since September 2017.
In a statement to The Journal, the University confirmed that it’s aware of the Kings of Queen’s Facebook page.
“The University is actively looking into the matter. We will not comment on individual employees.”
