Natasha Andrade, Nadira Rishat Daulet, and Joey Lauer, all ArtSci ’27, have been elected the incoming Arts and Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) executive team.
On Feb. 6, the ASUS election results were announced. Andrade will be the ASUS president; Rishat Daulet was elected the next vice-president (operations) (VPOPs); and Lauer was elected to serve as the next vice-president (society-affairs). Ballots were sent to all ArtSci students on Feb. 3, and voting closed the following day, Feb. 4. A total of 735 eligible voters participated in the election.
All three executive candidates ran uncontested and were subject to a vote of confidence from the ArtSci student body.
In her election, Andrade secured 86.7 per cent of the vote. In an interview with The Journal, Andrade stated that she was looking forward to working with her fellow execs alongside other external organizations, faculty societies, and the AMS.
“I’m so excited. I’m so glad that the student body trusted me enough to be their president, and I’m just so excited to see what I’m going to accomplish this year with Joey and Nadira by my side,” Andrade said
Lauer received 88.4 per cent of the vote in his race. In an interview with The Journal, he shared similar sentiments to Andrade, stating he was most excited to start working with external teams and his two fellow execs.
“I’m definitely most excited to engage with all our different partners. […] I’m also really, really excited to work with the other two execs. We worked together on council this year, and we built some great relationships with each other,” Lauer said.
Daulet also passed his vote, elected with an 85.3 per cent majority.
In an interview with The Journal, she said she was pleased that the student body voted so confidently for her and is eager to begin hiring and reviewing the budget.
“I’m super stoked to finish hiring […] and start reviewing, re-evaluating all of like the major budget decisions that took place this year with both the incoming and the current student leaders,” Rishat Daulet stated.
Three new uncontested ASUS Senators were also elected; Allan Savini and Akaran Siva will serve one-year terms. Savini received a vote of confidence of 81.8 per cent, and Siva received a similar vote of 81.7 per cent. Julia Hanna will fulfill the two-year senate position and received a vote of confidence of 83.9 per cent.
