The draft sexual violence policy approved by the Board of Trustees in May is now in effect, with no changes.
“A comprehensive review process of the Policy on Sexual Violence Involving Queen’s University Students was initiated in May 2018, and the updated policy was approved by the Board of Trustees on May 10, 2019,” the University wrote in a statement to The Journal.
Following the release of the Student Voices on Sexual Violence survey results in March, the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities required all universities to review their existing sexual violence policies by September of 2019 instead of the original deadline of January 2020.
In its first revision since its 2016 implementation, the new policy tightens appeal guidelines and ushers in changes surrounding confidentiality.
This June, The Journal published a breakdown of all the changes to the policy, now available on the Queen’s website.
