The Queen’s community is mourning the loss of Brent Dadds, ArtSci ’24.
Dadds passed away March 6 in his hometown of Peterborough, Ontario, at the age of 18. He is survived by his parents Simon Dadds and Chia-Wen Hsu, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dadds was in his first year at Queen’s and intended to pursue a degree in Life Sciences, with hopes to become a dentist.
Outside of his academics, Dadds was passionate about whitewater kayaking and alpine skiing. He was also involved with Whitewater Ontario, where he paddled with his mother and father.
He completed his high school volunteer hours at the Minden Whitewater Preserve, who wrote that he made it a “better place” for everyone in a Facebook post.
His friends and family set up a virtual message board on Padlet to share stories and photos with his family.
Beloved by many friends, Dadds is remembered as a positive, kind person whose humour drew people to him. He loved making new friends and uplifting those he cared about.
Dadds is also remembered by many coaches and teachers from his high school as an excellent student who was eager to offer help to those who needed it.
He always made people feel valued and strived to create an inclusive space.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life has been postponed until further notice.
