A second children’s daycare location is set to open in September at the An Clachan complex on Van Order Drive.
The new location, run by the Queen’s Day Care Centre, will accommodate 10 infants (newborns to 16 months old) and 15 toddlers (16 months to two and a half years old). According to a Queen’s press release, the centre will begin accepting preschoolers in fall 2016.
The former daycare location, located at 169 Union St., was closed last May following a failed fire and safety inspection. The former location primarily catered to preschoolers between two and six years old.
The daycare will complement the longstanding Queen’s daycare centre at 184-186 Union St.
According to the University’s announcement, renovations are underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of July. The centre anticipates an opening date of Sept. 8. Parents will be allowed to tour the new location starting in mid-August.
The An Clachan complex, a Queen’s owned Community Housing complex, is a five-minute drive from the main campus.
