Sailing picks up fourth and eighth

The sailing team competed in two regattas on the weekend, placing eighth in the North Fall #2 regatta at the State University of New York Maritime College and fourth at the Big Apple Classic, hosted by Columbia University and Fordham University. At the Big Apple Classic, Queen’s “A” boat sailors Landon Gardner and Allyson Hornby finished third overall in their division after eight races, picking up three second-place finishes along the way. Josh Brown and Dave Knight placed fifth overall in the “B” division after eight races.

At the North Fall#2 regatta, Isaac Bussin and Margaret Casey finished eighth in the “A” division and Ethan Holzer and Seth Whitmore placed eighth in the “B” division. This weekend, the team will compete in the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Fall Open in Norfolk, Virginia, the McGill Cup regatta in Beaconsfield, Quebec, and the McMillan Cup regatta at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Cross-country hosts OUA Championships

The men’s and women’s cross-country teams will be hosting athletes from across Ontario this weekend as the Gaels will host the OUA Championships at Fort Henry Hill on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The women’s 5km will start at 11 a.m., the men’s 5km will start at 11:45 a.m., and the 10km will begin at 3 p.m. at the Junior Ranks Mess at CFB Kingston.

Student admission will cost $2.

Swimming brings home four medals

The men’s and women’s swimming teams competed last weekend at Guelph.

Amanda Schembri brought home silver in the Women’s 50m fly with a time of 0:29.98, and Julian Chang brought home silver after his performance in the Men’s 50m free.

Both relay teams won bronze medals in the 400m medley and both finished fourth in the 100m free relay.
