Hockey takes title
After earning the top spot in the Mid-East Division with their win over the Royal Military College in Wednesday’s Carr-Harris Cup, the men’s hockey team had to hope for the University of Toronto to lose both of their remaining games.
The Blues did just that, losing 5-2 to Lakehead University and 3-2 in a shootout to the Ryerson Rams, giving Queen’s their first Mid-East Division title since the division was created in 2000-01, and its first division title overall since the 1980-81 OUAA championship season.
The Gaels hold the second seed in the East, which comes with a first-round bye. If the McGill Redmen win their three-game series over the Carleton Ravens, the Gaels will face them at home. If the Redmen lose, the Gaels will face the winner between the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa.
The OUA quarter-final will start Feb. 20 at the Memorial Centre.
