Rower strikes gold at Head of Rideau regatta
Rower Morgan Jarvis won gold on Sunday at Ottawa’s Head of the Rideau River regatta. Jarvis completed the lightweight single competition in a time of 19:35, beating the course record by more than 20 seconds.
The heavyweight men’s team was the only other Queen’s team competing in the race. They won silver, coming second to Trent’s team with a time of 17:04.

Volleyball alumnus signs with European team
Former Gael Jeff DeMeza became Queen’s ninth volleyball player to join the professional ranks, signing a contract with Cemtec Super Volley, a team based in Enns, Austria.
DeMeza played for Queen’s from 2004 to 2009, winning two OUA gold medals, two OUA silver medals and was twice named to the OUA All-Star team.

Gaels shut out Gee-Gees on the road
In Wednesday night action, the women’s soccer team beat the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, ranked first in the OUA East, by a score of 1-0.
Third-year striker Kelli Chamberlain scored the game’s only goal in the 33rd minute.
The Gaels are back in action this weekend with a Saturday road trip to Peterborough to play the Trent Excalibur, before returning home on Sunday to face the Ryerson Rams at Richardson. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
