Women’s lacrosse splits season openers
Last year’s silver-medal winning Gaels opened their season in London with a 19-6 win over the McMaster Marauders and a 15-14 loss to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
It was a high-scoring weekend for Queen’s, with midfielder Lisa McLaughlin posting nine points over the two games and attack Marsha Cryderman scoring seven.
The Gaels travel to Toronto next weekend for a three-game set against the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks, the Western Mustangs and a chance for vengeance against the Varsity Blues.

Women’s rugby continues streaks
The women’s rugby team kept their unbeaten run going with a 40-0 blanking of the lowly York Lions. The Gaels spent the majority of the game pinning the Lions into their own half, and got a try each from eight-man Shauna Geerts, centre Emily Stern, fullback Karlye Wong and a monstrous four tries from fly-half Andrea Wadsworth. Wadsworth’s performance puts her into second in OUA point-scoring with 30.
Next Saturday the Gaels and McMaster Marauders, also undefeated, will kick off at 1 p.m. at Kingston Field.
