Rugby

Women’s Rugby has maintained its spot as the best team in the country.

They finished the regular season undefeated on Oct. 7 with a 125-0 win over Trent. After earning a Round One OUA Bye last week, they will play their OUA quarterfinal game against Western at home on Nixon Field on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.

Men’s Rugby faced off against the only other undefeated team, the Guelph Gryphons, last weekend.

They put up a solid fight and demolished the Gryphons 29-12. Queen’s now sits atop the OUA standings and will play their last regular season game on Oct. 23 against the Golden Hawks.

Soccer

Women’s Soccer sits second in the OUA east and is third-ranked in the country.

They blanked Trent to the tune of 5-0 last Saturday. Cecilia Way put up two points, and Jenna Matsukubo also found the back of the net. Matsukubo’s performance earned her Queen’s Athlete of the Week for week six. The Gaels will play two home games this weekend at Richardson Stadium.

Men’s Soccer tied Trent on Saturday night. They will finish out their season this weekend with a double header at home, hoping to improve on their record of 3-5-2.

Hockey

Men’s Hockey played four exhibition games in September and started their regular season games this weekend with a doubleheader against the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières Patriotes where they lost both games.

UQTR took advantage of several Queen’s penalties and scored two power play goals.

Varsity Clubs

Fastpitch

Last weekend Fastpitch hosted four games: a doubleheader against the Univeristy of Toronto Varsity Blues and another double header against the Toronto Metropolitan University Bold.

They lost both games against U of T but turned it around with two victories over TMU. They will participate in the first round of the OUS championships on Saturday against Laurier.

Field Hockey

Queen’s suffered a 1-0 loss to Waterloo on Saturday and fell to Guelph the next day with a score of 6-1. Queen’s is currently third in the OUA East division.

Lacrosse

Women’s Lacrosse was unstoppable this season and finished off their regular games this weekend with three wins. Their undefeated season will continue at the OUA championships in Toronto against U of T on Friday.

Men’s Lacrosse improved their record this season with a 11-8 win over the Gee-Gees in Ottawa. They play again this weekend on Miklas-McCarney field against McGill.

Golf

The men’s and women’s golf teams participated in the OUA Championship over the weekend at the Hylands Golf Club in Ottawa.

Last year, the men’s team won the Championship title. On Saturday, they finished in 10th place after round one. After round two on Saturday, the men finished in 12th place.

The women’s team finished in 11th place for both rounds.
