Bedouin Soundclash CD Launch Party @ Elixir Nightclub Apr. 1
Tonight’s launch is ostensibly Bedouin’s last show as Queen’s students, and it’s also an exclusive chance to get a hold of their latest album, Sounding A Mosaic, before it hits stores nationwide a month from now.
Big things have happened to the fourth-year reggae-rockers in the past three years, including sessions with major producers and opening slots for Big Sugar and Great Big Sea. Bigger things await Jay, Eon and Pat in the future.
This will basically be the last time that Queen’s students can say, “We knew Bedouin when …” and effectively claim them for our own before they hit the big time. Suffice it to say, you’ll be lucky to find breathing room in the Elixir on Thursday night.
The Best of the Rest
DJ Jazzy Jeff at Stages Nightclub Apr. 4
That’s right, Uncle Phil will be tossing Jazz’s lazy ass all the way to Stages, where the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sidekick will continue in the tradition of 2 Live Crew, Naughty by Nature and Arrested Development to exploit the novelty of old-school hip hop in Kingston.

Lovely synth-goddess Lucil (aka Krista Muir) can rock her Yamahas hardcore and she’s very well-dressed to boot. Catch her before she runs away to the U.S. and becomes famous.

Joel Plaskett at the Grad Club Apr. 22
The last time Joel Plaskett played here, he was sick, and he still kicked ass. In full health, he’ll be an unstoppable force. If you’re still kicking around these parts, you won’t want to miss this.

BFA on View ’04 Contemp. Feature & Samuel J. Zacks Galleries May 15 – June 13
One of the more interesting student art events of the year is rapidly approaching, as the graduating Fine Arts class showcases their best work. An eclectic exhibition is virtually guaranteed—last year featured a dress made of garbage bags and quirky Warhol-styled prints of supermarket items. It’s definitely worth a summertime jaunt down University Avenue.
