Team AJA has released a precursor to their platform, outlining their platform points, to kick off the campaign period on Jan. 20.
The platform points cover five pillars: health and wellness, external affairs, student engagement, equity, and sustainability.
The full platform will be released on Jan. 24, halfway through the campaign period and two days prior to the candidate debate. Voting will take place from Jan. 28 to 29.
“We believe that our platform-in-full should include input from a variety of campus wide, student-run groups,” Team AJA wrote in a statement to The Journal on Jan. 20.
“We began our official consultation period immediately following AMS Assembly ratification, as per Election Policy and the instruction of the Secretariat.”
Team AJA was confirmed by AMS Assembly on Jan. 16. In an interview with The Journal on Jan. 17, they said they had yet to start consultations.
“Consultations start on [Jan.] 20,” Presidential candidate Jared Den Otter, PHE ’20, said on Jan. 17.
In the same interview, Team AJA said their platform will be based on their lived experiences on and off campus, reflections on their previous four years, what has and has not worked with previous AMS executives, what is missing on campus and what can be improved upon, and their awareness of the current state of Queen’s.
They didn’t comment on consultations with students until asked directly whether that was to be a part of their campaign process.
