The Gaels continue to dominate on a wide scale of sports, as the first half of the winter season is drawing to a close.

Queen’s strongest team right now, statistically, is women’s basketball, who are a perfect 9-0 after hosting the University of Waterloo Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks on Nov. 21 and 22, respectively. Both games featured slow starts, followed by second-quarter explosions leading to two 40-point victories. Kiyara Letlow, Kin ’26, continued her persistent dominance with two double-doubles, including a 24-point performance versus Laurier.

The Gaels are currently sitting at the top of the OUA East and are ranked fifth in all of U Sports. With a road game on Nov. 28 against Ontario Tech University, their last home game before the break comes on Nov. 29 against the McMaster Marauders at 4 p.m. E.T. at the ARC.

Men’s basketball also hosted Waterloo and Laurier and, likewise, came away with a weekend sweep. Ollie Engen, Kin ’28, led the Gaels in both games with 20 points. After a slow start to the season, the Gaels have won three straight after the weekend, hoping to build into the winter break. Also playing on the road at Ontario Tech on Nov. 28, the Gaels will try to end their first half on a high, playing McMaster at the ARC on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. E.T.

Men’s volleyball travelled to Toronto on Nov. 21 and 22 to take on the York University Lions in a weekend doubleheader. After a five-set thriller led to a heartbreaking loss in the first match, the Gaels bounced back and won another five-setter the following match. Currently third in the OUA and fifth in U Sports, Men’s volleyball’s in a strong position going into the winter break. After the holidays, they travel to Windsor for a tournament hosted by the University of Windsor on Jan. 2. Windsor will also be hosting the 2026 U Sports Championship in March.

Women’s Volleyball also travelled to take on York this past weekend. The first match featured a dominant three-set sweep but didn’t translate into the second match, where they lost 3-1. They currently sit in the middle of the standings with a respectable 4-4 record entering the halfway mark. Following the break, the Gaels will host the University of Guelph Gryphons on Jan. 9 and 10 at the ARC.

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the Gaels, as all varsity teams are cementing Queen’s as a diverse premier athletics program.
