Most of you are aware that when it comes to beauty ads, editorial spreads and swimsuit catalogues, photo editing is inevitable. But how much are these pictures really manipulated?

According to by professional retouchers, a lot more than you’d think. These images are created to sell a product by enticing consumers with images of “perfection”, something people naturally strive for. When men and women take home an article of clothing or skin product and fail to see the depicted results, disappointment and dissatisfaction ensue.

So check out the article, and next time you see an ad for a new mascara or cologne, keep in mind that these photos do not represent reality.
