Yahya Mohamed, Sci ’26, Michelle Zhao, ConEd ’27, and Kailyn Mao, HealthSci ’28, will be the Residence Society’s executive team for the 2026-27 academic year.
Voting was open to students on residence for two days and closed on Jan. 28. 722 out of 4956 (14.6 per cent) eligible voters cast their ballot. In their uncontested runs, both Mohamed and Zhao received majority support, with 89.7 per cent and 92.4 per cent of voters, respectively, giving them a vote of confidence.
The result was announced publicly on Feb. 5 following a delay due to an appeal sent to the AMS Judicial Affairs, although details on this appeal weren’t provided to The Journal.

Mohamed, now stepping into his role as President, is ready to take the trust ResSoc voters have placed in his hands and turn his campaign promises into action.
“The campaign is over, but the work of building a more supportive and transparent ResSoc begins today. I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the Exec, and I trust that together we’ll be able to have a better ResSoc for its members,” Mohamed said in a written statement to the Journal.
Mao secured the vice-president (residence operations) position, with 58.1 per cent of voters selecting her as their executive over Soomin Han, ConEd ’27. In a statement to The Journal, Mao stated that she’s grateful to have obtained this position and is enthusiastic about her future in ResSoc.
“It wasn’t easy, but we did it, and I’ll be actively working to continue the legacy you all made in residence,” Mao said.
Securing the vote of confidence for her role as vice-president (society operations), Zhao told The Journal she hopes to “to fully enrich the environment by diligently planning and organizing more diverse and meaningful events, so that residence is not only a place to live but also a warm community where we grow together.”
The incoming executive team will begin their term on May 1.
