Team MENu outlined plans to strengthen community and maintain continuity within the Concurrent Education Students’ Association (CESA) at an open forum on Feb. 1.

Taking place at 6:30 p.m. in Mackintosh Corry Hall, the prospective executive team, along with the other candidates for year representative roles, addressed a crowd of approximately 30 people. The executive team spoke for approximately 10 minutes, while the forum in total lasted an hour, as candidates from the other four positions shared their platforms.

The executive team, MENu, consists of the presidential candidate, Neha Rawal, Vice-President (Internal) candidate Erica He, and Vice-President (External) candidate Molly Fast, who is on exchange and wasn’t present at the forum, all ConEd ’27.

Running uncontested, the team asked the students for their vote of confidence.

In their opening statement, each member of the team detailed their previous roles in CESA. In positions ranging from intern to year representative, each candidate described their prior experience as rewarding, sharing that they’re eager to continue their terms.

“We all have experience with CESA under our belts, and we would love to continue gaining experience in fourth year,” Rawal said.

The candidates believe that the ConEd community is strong and tight-knit, repeatedly stating that they wish to maintain and strengthen the welcoming and encouraging environment that they enjoy so much.

“It’s important to make sure that CESA and everyone in ConEd knows that we are always here for you guys,” He said.

The team wants to advertise the community aspect of the faculty to first years and incoming ConEd students, who may be hesitant to participate in the association. They also stated an intent to create spaces where new students can get to know each other, starting as early as Orientation Week.

They briefly mentioned the use of Google Forms but didn’t go into detail on what it would contain and how it would help them achieve their end goal.

He mentioned that an enjoyable part of her CESA experience came from how much she learned from simply attending CESA meetings. With that, she wants to bring in the communication and clarity of the current executives into the new term.

“Without the entire CESA team, it would be nowhere near what it is today,” Rawal said.

The question period ended with each member of the team sharing their excitement to host, promote, and participate in the upcoming ConEd events, like ConEd Camp.

“As incoming candidates, we want to be clear, consistent, and reliable.”

Voting will be open from Feb. 5 to 6, with results to be released on Feb 7.
