The announcement was made on Sept. 24.

The Gaels women’s field hockey team is off the field for an unforeseeable time.

On Sept. 20th, in an Instagram post that’s no longer available, the women’s field hockey team announced that the team had forfeited their games against the Waterloo Warriors on Sept. 20th at 7:30 p.m. ET and the McMaster Marauders on Sept. 21st at 11:00 a.m. ET. The games still appear as a forfeit on the Athletics & Recreation (A&R) webpage.

Queen’s Gaels and Queen’s Field Hockey Club put out a joint statement on Sept. 24 on their Instagrams. Queen’s A&R made a statement regarding how “the Women’s Field Hockey Team will not compete until further notice.” The post explained the internal review process initiated in response to a report of non-academic misconduct.

“We recognize the disappointment this may cause among student-athletes, families, opponents, and fans, and we appreciate their understanding,” the statement read.

According to the post, the safety and well-being of all participants is a top priority, grounded in values of fair play, respect, and safe sport. It adds that maintaining integrity means ensuring student-athletes follow safe sport policies, codes of conduct, and ethical standards both on and off the field.

The post regarding the statement has since been deleted as of Sept. 26th at 12:00 a.m.

The Gaels have forfeited their next two games against the Western Mustangs on Sept. 27th at 1:00 p.m. ET and the Guelph Gryphons on Sept. 28th at 1:00 p.m.

The Journal requested a statement from the Head Coach, but was provided with the same statement made in the post.
