Queen’s Men’s Basketball travelled to Ottawa last weekend to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens on Feb. 5 and 6.

The Women’s Basketball team spent the weekend in Ottawa, tipping off against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Jan. 31 in a 53-60 loss, then playing against the top-ranked Carleton Ravens on Feb. 1, where they lost 63-72.
To start the game, the Gaels capitalized on the Gee-Gee’s inability to shoot from beyond the arc, outscoring Ottawa 17-14 in the first frame.
In the second quarter, the Gaels saw their lead disappear after being dominated by the Gee-Gees in the paint.

This past weekend, Queen’s Women’s Basketball hosted their annual U Sports Shoot for the Cure game against the Brock Badgers.

The Women’s Basketball team battled hard this weekend but lost their 12-game win streak against the TMU Bold, 56-58 on Jan. 24. Hopefully their win against the Brock Badgers on Jan. 25, 63-59, is the start of a new streak.

Last year’s Men’s Basketball team was nothing short of miraculous. Winning 11 straight games en route to winning a game-winning buzzer beater at Provincial Championships in the ARC and making it to the National Championship.

From the rink to the pool, Queen’s gave it their all this past week. Here’s everything the Gaels had to offer.

The Gaels’ new system has created serious challenges for opposing teams this season.

The Gaels looked to defend homecourt on Jan. 11 as the Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams welcomed the Nipissing Lakers to the Athletics and Recreation Centre for OUA regular season action.

The entire bench came to play as the 6-1 Queen’s Gaels tipped off against the undefeated 8-0 Lakehead Thunderwolves at the ARC on Nov. 26.

Recently, however, it hasn’t been the athlete’s age that has forced them to depart from Queen’s, but higher opportunities south of the border.
