From high above, Kingston and surrounding area appear surprisingly quaint and pastoral.

They cling to life, but just barely. Their miniature chests move up and down, a tube rhythmically filling their pre-mature lungs
with oxygen. Wires send
electrical pulses directly to their empty hearts to force the
blood to circulate.

If you lived in a city indifferent to your existence, failure wasn’t suspect so much as an alternative lifestyle. Every morning, the couriers, clutching newspaper parcels, would pedal across the same neighborhoods and with delicate accuracy leave welcome mats filled with unwelcome news.

The bus jerked to a stop and I woke with a numb face. Somehow I’d managed to fall asleep with my cheek pressed against the window.

Any fashion blog browser knows that studs are back and here to stay. Though studded boots might be a little too much for some, studded collars are a great alternative to add a touch of embellishment to update your wardrobe. Why spend $50 at Topshop when you can DIY for under $10?

There’s been a lot of discussion in the news lately about when a person can and can’t consent. Unfortunately, most people aren’t taught about consent and communication when they receive sex-ed in high school. You might have been taught how your genitals work and how to protect them, but you probably weren’t taught about how to talk to your partner(s). If you were lucky, you were taught “no means no”.
However, there’s so much more to negotiating consent than “no means no”. If someone doesn’t say “yes” and say it with enthusiasm, then that means “no”!

It’s difficult to write an editorial about politics that will be relevant to most of my peers. We live in a time of disparate interests and apathy. In North America, traditional political parties are stagnant and many people are alienated from our flawed political systems.

The language of music is one we all speak.

For Gianna Lauren, the unsettling experiences are the most grounding.

We’re at it again: healthy ingredients that boast rich, indulgent taste. After our indulging in more than our fair share of junk food last weekend, thanks to St. Patty’s Day, I decided to try out this healthy cheesecake recipe for my housemate’s birthday. The recipe took a mere 10 minutes to whip up and tasted like heaven. What’s not to love about a rich, creamy, sweet dessert that’s just 60 calories a slice?

In lieu of the upcoming release of the much-anticipated Great Gatsby movie, what better way to celebrate than in Great Gatsby style. I was inspired by the idea while watching Made In Chelsea, a British reality TV show where throwing parties are a full time job. Feathers, champagne and bowties, anyone?

Calling all makeup junkies! I’m sure you can attest to the guilty habit of buying products that end up making their way to the bottom of your makeup bag. Perhaps you purchased a foundation a touch too light or a hair product that doesn’t quite suit your hair type. I cringe every time I look at my once-used MAC Mineral Foundation compact that sits neglected in my makeup drawer (unfortunately I’m not as naturally tanned in the winter as I had thought).

147 years ago, Queen’s admitted its first female student — 35 years after it opened its doors to
male students.

It’s sexuality in its primitive form.
