The Vogt C Studio Series, advertised as “Four One Act Plays” is much better than one would expect from a typical student-run play. Although each performance was short in length, the actors and directors created lasting impressions with a carefully-crafted and professionally run show.

Staff Writer Henry Rollins refuses to rest on his laurels.  The 49-year-old punk rock legend, most famous for fronting Black Flag from 1981 to 1986, has kept himself busy in the decades since and shows no signs of stopping.

Recent controversy over Vagabond Theatre’s latest production carries a pang of irony.
Posters advertising the show with an image evoking a Nazi party flag were deemed anti-Semitic by some campus groups and posters were removed from campus after complaints, starting the show off on unsure footing in some ways.

As many trashy tabloids hark, “Stars: They’re just like us!” In most capacities, this can be said for front man of The Acorn, Rolf Klausener.
He doesn’t have cable television, wastes many hours on Facebook and lives with friends. But on the flip side, he plays gigs like Electric Picnic—a festival in Colorado which attracts 75,000 people—tours around the world and frequents glamorous places such as Kingston. Alright, maybe that last one makes Klausener just like us, too.

Fashion icon Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion fades; only style remains the same.” That may be true, but the Vogue Charity Fashion Show is working hard to make its mark. This year’s show falls under the themes of fashion, fiction and fantasy.

Rock and Roll Report Card

Who are you?
Fezz Stenton.
Where can someone find you?
Three of us live in Toronto: Jess, Mark and Adam. And myself, I still live in Guelph. Kyle lives and works in Cambridge. We practice in Toronto once a week, though. I’m in school, doing a general in arts.

Every year our reading week is eclipsed by the most exciting awards ceremony of the year. Brandish it all you want for the cheesy, long-winded speeches and Hollywood bravado, but at the end of the day the Oscars are the highest form of recognition for the most mass-distributed art form in existence.

Montreal band Hollerado’s recently re-released Record in a Bag is what its name suggests: a CD in a Ziploc bag. But the music is only the beginning.
“People like the packaging so far,” lead singer Menno Versteeg said on the phone from Montreal. “I don’t want to blow the surprise, but we put in different stuff when we play live.”

A&E Editor Seventy-two years ago Thorton Wilder wrote Our Town, a play set in the fictionalized town Grover’s Corners in 1901. Since then it’s become North America’s most produced play. Four thousand productions have taken place in the last decade alone.

At the request of Henri Fabergé of Henri Fabergé and The Adorables, we met secretly at the Kingston Mills locks, a rendezvous he said would be far more romantic than a phone conversation. We spoke of Valentines Day, world exploits and the hilarity of the college-sensation textsfromlastnight.com, as he took time from his day job involving the paper-pushing of experimental testing on convicts.

A&E Editor This year marks the 10th time The Vagina Monologues has been produced at Queen’s. If the spirit, enthusiasm and drive of the women involved in this year’s production is any indication of what the future has in store for the play, it looks bright.

Walking into the dimly lit room that looks more like a bluesy bar or an underground coffee shop than a stage, I expected more out of The King’s Conscience than what I initially saw.

The Vogt Studio Series, known for showcasing entirely student-run productions, is taking its commitment to original student work even further with its most recent installment, Vogt B. “It’s all original student stuff going on here,” Vogt Publicity Manager Edward Larocque said.

When I first heard murmurs of East Coast rockers Sleepless Nights releasing three EPs for free, I figured the news was too good to be true. Luckily, the complementary EPs are far from fictional and the latest one is making its way to the masses through web browsers, blogs and amps everywhere.
